Technical qualification
The platform doesn't just find similar parts. It compares technical characteristics and explains the differences.
- Structured parameter comparison
- Deterministic engineering rules
- AI-assisted datasheet analysis
AI-assisted component substitution and shortage resolution for electronics engineering teams. Compare technical compatibility, understand the differences, and check real-world availability across distributors.
Currently in development and validated with selected engineering teams.
Checks availability across
Every compared parameter is satisfied by the available documentation: identical LQFP-64 package and footprint, operating voltage within the 1.8–3.6 V window, a compatible −40 to +85 °C temperature range, and a matching pin configuration. One minor electrical difference (I/O drive strength) is noted for review but does not affect drop-in use in typical designs. Each conclusion links back to the specific datasheet page it came from.
The Problem
When a part is discontinued, out of stock, or has an unacceptable lead time, an engineer has to investigate a viable alternative by hand.
Track down official manufacturer documentation for candidate parts and read through dense PDFs.
Line up voltage, current, frequency, memory and temperature ratings parameter by parameter.
Confirm the footprint, dimensions and pin configuration to avoid a costly PCB redesign.
Check multiple distributors to see whether a technically suitable part is actually purchasable.
For a single difficult component this can take hours — sometimes days.
How It Works
A combination of deterministic engineering rules, structured component data and AI-assisted datasheet analysis.
Enter the unavailable manufacturer part number, e.g. STM32F405RGT6. BOM upload is planned for a future version.
The platform extracts structured characteristics — package, pinout, voltage, ratings, temperature — primarily from official manufacturer documentation.
Candidate part numbers are compared against the original and each parameter is marked PASS, FAIL or UNKNOWN with its evidence.
Distributor APIs are queried for current stock, pricing and lead time, so you see which qualified candidates are obtainable.
Example result
For each candidate the platform shows what matches, what differs, and what an engineer must verify — with the source behind every parameter.

Verdicts are decision support for engineers. Final engineering approval always remains with your team.
Built for engineers
A decision-support tool for engineering teams — not an autonomous replacement authority.
The platform doesn't just find similar parts. It compares technical characteristics and explains the differences.
Every conclusion points to where the technical information came from, ideally the relevant datasheet page.
Uncertainty is never hidden behind a score. If a parameter can't be verified, it's marked UNKNOWN.
Answer both questions together: is this technically compatible, and can I actually buy it right now?
Availability sources
The platform is designed to check availability across many distributors instead of being tied to a single supplier. We are actively working on these integrations.
Distributor names are shown to indicate planned integrations. They are used for availability only and do not imply an existing partnership or endorsement.
A planned capability: upload an entire Bill of Materials and let the platform surface shortages and qualified alternatives across the whole design.
Help shape a tool built around how your team actually resolves component shortages.
AltComponent is currently in development. We're partnering with a small number of electronics manufacturers, EMS companies and engineering teams to validate the workflow against real shortage cases. Early access members get hands-on input into the roadmap and priority onboarding when the platform opens up.
